The Bull And Butcher is a quintessentially English pub, nestled between the Chiltern Hills and located in the quaint village of Turville in the Hambleden Valley. There easy access to us from London via the M40, We’re also in close proximity to Henley-On-Thames, Marlow and Thame. We regularly welcome guests from around the world. Our delicious gastro pub food, excellent Wines and fantastic Real Ales are well loved by customers. At The Bull and Butcher we strive to offer something for everyone. As a Brakspear pub, we’re proud to offer Brakspear Bitter and Oxford Gold, along with regular guest ales.
Inside our great pub there are two main areas, The Well Bar and The Windmill Lounge. Both areas have large open fires, original beams, and a relaxed pub atmosphere. There is a large sunny garden and patio areas ideal for a relaxing summer’s day. A further addition is our fantastic function room, The Bull Room, perfect for private dining. With glass barn doors that open out on to the lawn and space for 24 guests, it’s perfect for private celebrations.
The stunning scenery incorporates the windmill perched on top of a steep ridge overlooking Turville, made famous in Chitty Chitty Bang Bang. St. Mary the Virgin Church dates back to the 10th Century, and as well as being a great historical site, it has also gained fame in the "Vicar of Dibley", which was based on Turville village and its inhabitants. Goodnight Mr Tom was also filmed in the village, and the location is also used for lots of episodes of Midsomer Murders amoungst countless other productions.
We get very busy on sunny days, and we'd hate for you to be disappointed. If you're planning a visit please contact us to book a table ahead of time.
We’re a very popular pub for dog walkers and as such, dogs are welcome in all areas of the pub. We like to look after our four-legged friends, so water and treats are always available to keep them happy and refreshed after a long walk!
We also host Charity dog walks to raise funds for the local rescue home so stay in touch if you would like to be involved in our next outing.
